How parametric insurance works

1

Sensors watch your street

NYC's FloodNet network has logged 2,500+ real flooding events since 2020. The sensors nearest your building are the referee.

2

Water hits a tier

6″ of street flooding pays 25% of your limit, 12″ pays 50%, 24″ pays 100%. A nearby rain or river gauge must confirm a real storm was underway, so a parked van or a clogged grate cannot trigger a payout on its own.

3

You get paid in days

No claims process, no photos of your basement, no negotiation. Money for pumps, cleanup, and lost days — when you actually need it.

Why choose parametric?

Most flood damage is uninsured

Standard homeowners and renters policies exclude flood. Most NYC basements flooded by cloudbursts like Ida (2021) and the Sept 2023 storm had no coverage at all.

Priced from real measurements

Your premium blends a citywide elevation model with what the sensors on your block have actually recorded — not a FEMA map drawn years ago.

Transparent by design

The trigger data is public. Anyone can check the sensor and gauge readings that did — or didn't — pay you. See the full model in our dashboard.
